Setting the Mood - Music

The Office

As a creative, it is a guarantee that music will be playing while I’m working. Be it while editing, doing accounts, updating the website or emailing clients, music seems to keep me procrastinating on Facebook and makes office time feel more epic. You’ll usually find me listening to this thinking playlist I’ve been building since 2013. It sets the tone of the office and invigorates me to do more (or sometimes makes me want to go and have a nap). It includes luminous neo-classical works with subtle elements of post-rock, pop, ambient and electronic music, as well as some epics from Hans Zimmer. Some of my favourite artists in the playlist include Max Richter, Olafur Arnalds, Thomas Newman and more recently Ryan Taubert.

Studio Shoots

My goal with studio (and natural light) shoots is to have a high energy experience — so my reflective / thinking playlist for the office doesn’t work at all (I’m open to giving it a go sometime, although the photos might come out quite somber).

This playlist I’ve been using over the last 6 months really sets the mood for clients to feel comfortable and have fun. It’s eclectic and some of the songs don’t make sense next to each other but this really changes up the tone to get variation in expression and makes us think about new poses.

Enjoy.
